A Comparative Study on Awareness Level of the Nurse by Nursing Students and Senior High School Girls

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this study is to investigate the awareness on the nurse by means of semantic differential method.
Subjects of this study are 219 nursing students and 101 senior high school girls. Distance between two counter meaning on one concept is divided to seven scale and grade of nursing students and senior high school girls, and that is compared in each concept, in the aspect of evaluation, potency and activity.
The data is analyzed by mean, critical ratio, F-ratio and semantic space is figured out.
The result is as follows.
1. In awareness on the nurse, the level of nursing students is higher and more positive than the senior high school girls(p<0.01).
2. The nursing students who want to be a nurse have higher and more positive opinion on the nurse than those who don´t want(p<0.01).
3. The senior high school girls who want to enter the nursing program have higher and more positive opinion on the nurse than those who don´t want (p<0. 01).
4. The awareness level on the nurse of the nursing students in each school grade.
1) At the aspect of activity
The senior nursing students who want to be a nurse have higher and more positive opinion than those who don´t want(p<0.01). 2) At the aspect of potency
The junior (p<0.01), freshman (p<0.05) and senior (p<0.05) nursing
students who want to be a nurse have higher and more positive opinion than those who don´t want.
3) At the aspect of activity
There is no difference between the nursing students who want to be a
nurse and those who don´t want in all school grade.
5. In the nursing students at the aspect of activity (p<0. 01) and evaluation (p<0.05), there is significant relationship between the awareness on the nurse and the school grade.
